VICTOR HUGO CASTAÑEDA

ABOUT

Victor Hugo Castañeda was Born in La Palma, Michoacan, Mexico, on August 30, 1947; at the age of 4 he moved to Mexico City, currently he has 30 years living in Cuernavaca, Morelos. From a young age, the sculptor has been involved in the world of art, since he comes from a family of sculptors and cabinetmakers.

As a child, his favorite hobby was drawing. Unconsciously, he showed attributes of a good draftsman and his taste for the feminine figure. 

While he was studying college at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, the sculptor decided to change the course of his life after being involved in the “68” movement. 

In the year 1969 begins to work with his brother Felipe Castañeda, assistant of Francisco Zuñiga, both worldwide renown sculptors, and starts his artistic career in the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda” of the “INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE BELLAS ARTES"  in Mexico City. Since then, he has dedicated his life to sculpture; has collaborated with other international artists. Since the year 1972 he exhibits individually and collectively creating a great impact in the world of art.
